Basic Flagger Course:
USA Safety & Training Basic Flagger course will cover a variety of traffic safety topics. During this course students will learn Part 6 of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices section 6e, which includes Flagger Control, Fundamental Principles of Traffic Control, Components of a Work Zone, Appropriate Flagging Techniques, Hand Signaling Control, Work Zone safety, and Types of Traffic Control Devices. To successfully complete Basic Training, the instructor shall determine that the flagger has demonstrated knowledge and proficiency in flagging operations. Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be issued a completion card.
Course Content:

Theory and practice on safe flagging procedures.

Review and handout of the “Qualifications for flaggers” found in the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD).

Thorough understanding of flagging procedures and proper use of required equipment.

Improved flagging skills from hands-on training, classroom activities and a flagging skills test.

Increased ability to coordinate traffic movement through the work zone.

Each participant will receive educational and regulatory information on work zone safety standards, a wallet card and a certificate of completion.

MOT Intermediate Refresher:
USA Safety & Training refresher course is a DOT requirement every four years to renew certification. Take this class before your certification expires to avoid taking the 16 Hour Intermediate MOT class. It is a FDOT requirement that participants provide a copy of their current IMOT certificate.
Course Content:

Discussion and handout of the Design Standards, Index 600 (for design, construction, maintenance, and utility operations on the state highway system).

Review and handout of the “Qualifications for Flaggers” found in the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD).

Also included will be legal liability, record keeping, traffic control devices, installation and removal of traffic control devices, layouts for traffic control zones, and operation and maintenance of traffic control zones.

A written test will be given as part of the requirement for completion of this course.

Intermediate Maintenance of Traffic:
USA Safety & Training offers the Intermediate Maintenance of Traffic Course. This course is required for those who set up, maintain, inspect, or design work zones or traffic control devices. Upon successful completion of this 16-hour course students will receive a laminated wallet card and a certificate of completion. This certification is valid for four years at which time a refresher course will be required to remain in compliance with FDOT standards.
